I am an experienced counsellor and Accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP). My accredited status is a professional recognition of the quality of my practice and my high standards of knowledge, experience and development. I am also a qualified supervisor, relationship/couples counsellor and emotional / disordered eating counsellor. I work with adults of all ages.
For six years, I lectured in counselling at Exeter College, delivering courses to adults who wished to develop their listening skills or who aspired to be counsellors in the future. I taught courses at Certificate and Diploma level.
Alongside my lecturing role, I worked with young adults at Exeter College as the Higher Education counsellor. Much of this therapy focused on anxiety, depression, relationships and study-related issues.
I have also delivered seminars for a trusted holistic health programme and worked individually with clients to have a better understanding of their emotional and/or disordered eating.
My counselling experience includes being part of an NHS Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) team, where I worked with adults of all ages living in West Dorset. The focus of much of this work was anxiety, depression and health-related concerns.
Prior to this, I worked as a counsellor in a secondary school in Devon. The pupils presented with a variety of issues including: self-harm, eating disorders, relationships, sexuality, panic attacks and self-esteem.
I volunteered as a counsellor with ARC, a GP-referred community counselling service in East Devon, committed to providing essential talking therapies to patients of all ages. My work at ARC focused on personal loss, bereavement, anxiety and depression with many of my clients being of advanced years.
I hold an additional qualification in Youth Mental Health and have chosen to undertake further training to enhance my work with LGBTQ+ clients.
Prior to training as a counsellor, my professional career was in education, working as a qualified teacher and special needs advocate. I am also a mother.
