Relationship Counselling

I am a qualified and experienced relationship counsellor. I currently work with individuals and couples of all ages and in all types of intimate partnerships, to recognize and resolve conflicts and improve their relationships.

Making the decision to come to counselling may be difficult. However, if your relationship is experiencing problems, seeking help is better than ignoring or hoping the problems resolve themselves on their own. Sometimes talking to someone objectively, with no connection to yourself or your partner, is all it takes for a change in perspective.

By providing a safe space and the chance to speak to someone who has no preconceived notions of your relationship, I can help you to work through challenging issues. Through counselling you can make thoughtful decisions about rebuilding and strengthening your relationship or going your separate way. Either way, counselling will have offered you the space to decide what you would like the future to hold for you.

You can use relationship counselling to help with many specific issues, including:

  • Communication problems
  • Conflicts about child rearing or blended families
  • Anger
  • Infidelity
  • Financial issues
  • Work-related stress
  • Different sexual needs or other sexual issues
  • Different goals and values
  • Life changes

During our sessions together you can talk about the helpful and unhelpful parts of your relationship, identifying and learning to understand the sources of your conflicts.

My aim is to support you as you identify problems and find ways in which you can move forward. This may involve:

  • Examining how factors such as family values, religion, lifestyle and culture affect your relationship
  • Reflecting on the past and how it affects the present
  • Learning why arguments escalate
  • Learning new communication skills
